THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Spring Cleanup yesterday, and for the snacks and drinks! The park is looking gooood.
I am going to speak at a Parks meeting this Wednesday evening in Coffey Park. There will be a lot of dog people there, as the main purpose of the meeting is to consider Coffey Park off-leash hours. I will be spreading the word about our run and the work we are doing. Here are the details:
May 21 Parks Committee
Presentation and discussion on a proposal from the Department of Park and Recreation to consider the establishment of off-leash hours for Coffey Park and to consider changing Coffey Park closure hours from 10pm to 11pm.
Presentation and discussion by representatives for Friends of Douglass/Greene Park Inc. on initiatives and/ or conceptual plans being developed by the organization.
Coffey Park Park House (Between Richard St. and Dwight St)

It is great to have off leash hours. Does off leash include allowing dogs to defecate in the park? This is a common practice.
ReplyDeleteIt can happen, but owners are expected to pick up after their dogs, of course. Off leash is also restricted to a certain area of the park.
ReplyDeleteIf I was taking my dog to a grassy area, I would wait until he did his business somewhere else first. A sandy spot or in the gutter, rather than on grass that people will be using later.
